If y'all can't already tell, I absolutely love everything that has to do with back to school...everything except the loads of homework part. Back to school shopping is something that I always look forward to! Now that I have adorable monogrammed binders, I need a pencil pouch and accessories to start the year off with a bang!
What are your must have back to school accessories?
Well, today was the day! My first last day of high school. To make the summer to school transition a little easier I wore a cute outfit in hopes of brightening up everyone's spirits. I absolutely love bright colors, especially when they pop against a pattern! The shirt is very light and the shorts are extremely comfortable, not to mention a steal of a deal! The length of the shorts is perfect for summer and school, not too short and not too long!
In the past, I have always worn a dress on my first day back. But, with the dress code changes this year, I didn't want to risk it! Plus, shorts are always much more comfortable when carrying a bookbag or walking up the endless flights of stairs! The dots just add the perfect pop!!
Blouse (J.Crew) | Shorts (Old Navy) | Shoes...when I put them on (Tory Burch) | Jewerly (Sheila Fajl, Michael Kors)
What are you wearing for your first day back?
IT'S ALMOST TIME TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL! Obviously, I am a little excited about this post as well as the School Savvy posts to come! Although summer is a wonderful break from a hard academic year, nothing beats back to school shopping and everything that comes with preparing for a new school year! I'm going to share with y'all the binder covers that I found last year and have absolutely fell in love with. They add excitement to a plain binder and everyone will know who the binder belongs to if you just happen to lose it!
The Preppy Printable Binder Covers are designed by Jessica Marie. She has very easy to follow instructions on her blog! I used these last year and have done the exact same thing for this upcoming year. I would definitely recommend getting your binder covers printed at your local office store (Staples, Office Max, etc.) and on paper that is thicker than just normal computer paper. Binders get shoved in and out of bags, so the thicker the paper, the longer your adorable covers will last!
I've also always labeled the outside of my binders so that when they are sitting in my locker, I can pull the correct binder out. Color coding also helps and keeps things fun! I start off every year with tabs and college ruled paper in my binders. This is just enough to get me started until I can run to Target and get the next round of school supplies.
How do y'all personalize your binders?
As most of us know, the summer is slowly winding down. Looking back, one of my favorite things was getting my senior pictures taken! I am the editor-in-chief of my yearbook, so I have been extremely excited about getting my pictures done and seeing all my classmates' photos. When I was vacationing at Bald Head Island, I decided to go ahead and have my photos taken there because it's so beautiful and very unique!
The first outfit I had my pictures taken in was one of my favorites (besides The Perfect White Dress)! The shirt and white jeans are both from J.Crew. Here are some of my favorite pictures!
For all the seniors out there: what have y'all been wearing for your pictures?
One of my favorite things to do on a rainy day is bake! I've always loved trying new things in the kitchen and testing them on my friends and family. Exciting news: I have found a recipe that is a keeper!
These are Pecan Pie Muffins and they are one of the easier recipes in the book...taking only 30 minuets (including cooking time)!
I hope y'all enjoy your Pecan Pie Muffins!
It's that time of year again, the upcoming school year is just around the corner! I absolutely love everything about school, even studying! Be on the lookout for my back to school posts!
One thing I did this time last year was write down my goal grades that I wanted to achieve in the classes I was taking. I don't really know where the idea came from, but it was just something I decided to do, and I am so glad that I did! I would definitely encourage everyone to do this! I had the sticky note on the bulletin board above my desk and every night when I was doing my homework or studying I would see it. It's such a perfect way of motivating yourself daily throughout the school year!
How do you keep yourself motivated throughout the year?
